KHS 842 was one of six Dennis F8 Fire Appliances bought by Western Area Fire Brigade.
Purchased in 1956 it had bodywork by Dennis Bros of Guilford as opposed to bodywork by Miles. It was classed as a Major Pump and was fitted with a Dennis No. 2 pump capable of supplying 500 GPM.
It carried a 30 foot Ajax ladder and the hose reel was mounted on the rear above the main pump.
The Water Tank carried 200 gallons of water. It spent all of its days at Gourock at the old station in Royal Street and also the replacement station in George Road.
In 1970 a new Rolls Royce B60 (Ex Army) engine was fitted in it.
After disposal by Strathclyde Fire Brigade it was eventually acquired by Ricky Donahue who has restored it to its present immaculate condition.
